How the 2022 NBA Draft will go — Lottery Edition

Last year’s draft is already looking like an all-time great. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t gems to be had in the 2022 NBA Draft. Analysts have said this is a four-person draft. But with the league experiencing greater parity than it has in the last two decades, the need for high-impact role players is at a premium. As a result, there are a plethora of three and D perimeter players to be had in the first 14 picks. We’ve broken down how the Draft should go, including each player’s strengths, player comps, and best fits. We’ve even included a blockbuster trade, including a team trading up into the lottery. This might not be a draft with many future superstars, but the teams who have lucked out to pick one through 10 are a player or two away from rising out of the Lotte…

Jets sign RB Tarik Cohen, out of NFL since 2020

Running back Tarik Cohen, who last appeared in an NFL game in 2020, signed a contract with the New York Jets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the Jets, however multiple media outlets reported it was a one-year deal. Cohen was an All-Pro return specialist and made the Pro Bowl with the Chicago Bears in 2018 but missed the 2021 season with a torn ACL and the 2022 season with a ruptured Achilles. He was on the Carolina Panthers' practice squad last season and spent time on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. The Panthers released him on May 10. Cohen, who turns 29 in July, joins a running back room in New York that includes Breece Hall, Israel Abanikanda, Xazavian Valladay and rookies Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. Fellow running back Markese Stepp was waived on Wednes…

A Complete, Jovial Guide To The 2016 Senate Races

With six months and change still to go until November 8, you’ve probably learned more this election cycle than you ever hoped to hear about loony wall-construction-financing schemes, losing unspecified competitions to China, and/or the self-reported approximate dimensions of a certain candidate’s genitalia. The entire spectacle has been hilarious and delightful, even if our grandchildren will immediately conclude that we’ve gone senile when we try to tell them stories about it someday. Often drowned out in this cacophony of absurdity, though, is the fact that 34 Senate seats will ALSO be decided in November. And from a practical, will-anything-get-done-in-Washington-this-decade perspective, control of the legislature matters just as much as holding the White House. In the current C…

"Mitch McConnell Just Lost His Seat In The US Senate": Kentucky Fans React To Seeing Mitch McConnell Praise Louisville During Louisville-Kentucky

During this afternoon's Kentucky-Louisville tilt, CBS cut away for a moment to show a clip, from November 29, of senior Kentucky Senator and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell giving a speech on the Senate floor praising Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich. Politicians rarely fare well on social media when appearing on screen during sporting events, but this time the reaction from the digital crowd was less overt, horrifying racism and more one of University of Kentucky partisanship and suggesting that Mitch McConnell looks like a turtle. Fun! If these results are any indication, CBS pretty much screwed McConnell for the next midterm election. If Kentucky had won? It's probably all gravy. Instead, McConnell will have a fierce fight coming up against Ashley Judd, who…

Hand Dryers Spread The Viruses That You Failed To Wash Off

Dyson hand dryers are the finest part of visiting an airport restroom—which, to be fair, is not a difficult contest to win. Just dunk your hands into “Airblade,” a gift from the dystopian future, and without you touching a single surface, it’ll whip every droplet of water off your hands. But because no pleasure comes guilt-free, a study in the Journal of Applied Microbiology reveals that these jet dryers also launch lots of viruses into the air, over great distances, and for great periods of time. Dang. We already knew that air dryers sent bacteria into the air, but the new study confirms that viruses join the party too—concerning because viruses are better equipped to stay infectious while floating through the air and chilling out on bathroom surfaces. Dyson’s jet dryers sp…

Three Trade Destinations For Wizards Sharpshooter Davis Bertans

data-mm-id=”_4n3m8rckx”>'Tis the season for NBA trade rumors, one of the more entertaining times of year for those who care about such things. One player who will be at the epicenter of the storm that is the trade deadline will be Davis Bertans, the sharpshooting forward currently balling out in Washington. The Wizards are bad, and Bertans is only 27, so there's a possibility they keep him around. But he will be a restricted free agent next season and the Wizards are in a full-on rebuild. The Wizards' front office previously stated they'll be doing what they can to keep Bertans around, but NBC Sports Washington reports they're taking calls on Bertans leading up to the deadline. He should be in high demand, as he's shooting 43 percent from three on eight an…

Celtcs Should Feel Pretty Good About Close Loss to Bucks

data-mm-id=”_tnc5vq96s”>The Boston Celtics came up just short against the Milwaukee Bucks in the two teams' first seeding game to kick off the NBA restart in Orlando. It wasn't quite as close as Thursday night, where the Pelicans and Clippers lost to the Jazz and Lakers, respectively, by a combined four points. But Celtics-Bucks went down to the wire, and while Boston ultimately came up short, they can feel as good about the loss as possible considering the circumstances. For starters, had a ref decision or two gone a different direction, Giannis Antetokounmpo could have easily been given his sixth foul in the last two minutes. Boston got the short end of the stick when the refs reviewed Giannis' low blow against Daniel Theis and determined it was not a flagrant foul, or…

More People Have Heard Stuff About the Big Washington Football Team Story

data-mm-id=”_l27adez0o”>As the hours pass, more and more people with reporting credentials and at least loose connections to those with knowledge of the Washington professional football franchise hype a looming bombshell report that will supposedly cause all hell to break loose. Very few of them work for the Washington Post, which is believed to be waiting to light the fuse on the piece. Here are some more people who have heard some things. Working my sources but apparently changing of the Redskins name will be old news come tomorrow when a bombshell report is expected to surface. There’s growing buzz that unflattering news about organization could come out in just hours. We will be live with the latest on @ABC7GMW pic.twitter.com/zTK19dV4Mo— John Gonzalez (@ABC7John) July 16, 2020…

Unpopular Opinion: Ben Roethlisberger Deserves Comeback Player of the Year Over Alex Smith

data-mm-id=”_g92b0i7z4″>Alex Smith has authored the injury comeback story of the season, nay the decade, nay the millennium, by returning to the playing field nearly two years after suffering a broken leg that nearly had to be amputated it was so bad. Some 17 surgeries, a scary septic infection, and countless hours of rehab since, Smith will start for the Washington Football Team today, marking his first start in 728 days. The unexpected return to the field (Washington benched assumed starter Dwayne Haskins and Kyle Allen suffered a dislocated ankle last week) coupled with the extreme nature of Smith's injury and rehab has led many pundits to proclaim him the clear winner of NFL Comeback Player of the Year. While that makes sense considering all Smith has overcome, and while I kno…

Dick Vitale Hates the Transfer Portal

data-mm-id=”_ktxhmf8eh”>College basketball's transfer portal is in full swing, with hundreds of players opting to explore their options with new teams. Legendary ESPN analyst Dick Vitale has made his feelings on the portal known. I'll tell ya, I don't think he likes it. Vitale took to Twitter on Thursday to share his thoughts:No one can ever convince me this CHAOS is good for the college game . The instability in the game is scary as many coaches have told me in private. They can’t they claim constantly moan about it as it would hurt recruiting .— Dick Vitale (@DickieV) April 6, 2023To clarify, Vitale is confused, UCLA's Jaime Jaquez has declared for the NBA draft, he will not be transferring. Everyone else on his list is, in fact, in the portal or headed there.…
